JR Hokkaido will operate the “Kushiro Shitsugen Norokko-go”, a sightseeing train with a good view that runs leisurely in the Kushiro Shitsugen Wetland.
People can enjoy the magnificent marshlands scenery of each season because the “Norokko coaches”, which is an open-view passenger car with large windows, are used and operates at a slower speed than local trains. The highlight information in the in-car announcement is also popular every year, and it has become a popular attraction in East Hokkaido. Everyone who gets on the train will receive an original “commemorative certificate” that has different designs for each direction. In addition to the popular original goods “Norokko-go Choro-Q” and “Norokko-go Pudding”, new products will be released this year.
The train will be operated from April 29, 2022 (Friday / holiday), and will make one round trip a day between Kushiro and Toro on the Semmo Line. In addition, it will be extended to Kawayu-Onsen on June 11 (Sat), in line with the best time to see flowers named “Ezoisotsutsuji” in the Kawayu-Onsen area. The operation dates until June have been decided, and as soon as the contents of various hospitality during the period and the operation plan after July are decided, JR Hokkaido will inform those on the train information page (See the timetable and operation calendar below).
Of the 4-car train, 3 cars are the reserved open-view coaches, with 6-seater box seats on the west side where those can see more Kushiro Shitsugen Wetland, and 2-seater bench seats on the opposite side across the aisle. Car 3 is a barrier-free vehicle, and the wheelchair-accessible restroom is equipped with baby seats for changing diapers. The other is a non-reserved car, which is a regular coach with 4-seat box seats and long seats. Since non-reserved seats are expected to be crowded, it is recommended to use reserved seats.
The seat reservation fee is 840 yen for adults and 420 yen for children. However, a fare ticket is required separately.
